Also, your pyramid should be upside down. Let's approach this logically.
Let's say I have a program that writes log files. I want the date to be included in the file name. What date format to use? If I use a normal american date like 03-09-2013-file.log all the logs will be sorted together sequentially for each year. The only problem becomes when you start a new year then 03-09-2014-file.log will be before 03-10-2013-file.log. If I use your stupid date system, this is a problem when the month changes because every individual day will be listed sequentially and all the files will be jumbled together. However, using the agreed upon international standard established by the, oddly named, International Organization for Standardization, we see that 2013-03-09-file.log will always come before any later log. This is why I always use ISO 8601, not to mention it eliminates confusion. If I were a raider still and said I would be absent 4-5, does that mean May 4 or Apr 5? I am american but posting in a place that primarily uses a different date style. You see how it can cause confusion? Also, get over yourself on the metric stuff. Not our fault the rest of the world is not smart enough to remember all the different values for different units and had to come up with an easier system
