I'm about to get a bit of a bonus at the end of this month, and I want to spend a few hundred on a new component for my rig. I've got my eye on something, which I will post a link to later...but I want to get you guys' opinion first on what you think I should do. My budget is $300-400 USD.

Here's my current rig:

Intel Core i5-3570K Quad-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 4 Core LGA 1155

ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory

Corsair Hydro Series H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

MSI AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB GDDR5 DVI/HDMI/2xMini DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card

Samsung 830 - Series MZ-7PC256N/AM 256 GB 2.5 Inch SATA III MLC Internal SSD

I can't find the link to my storage drive...but it's a 500 GB Western Digital

Rosewill THOR V2 Gaming ATX Full Tower Computer Case

SAMSUNG Internal DVD Writer

OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W Modular High Performance Power Supply

HP W2338H 23-Inch Widescreen Monitor

Razer DeathAdder 3500 PC Gaming Mouse - Left Hand Edition

Razer Vespula Gaming Mat

Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard (Black)

Plantronics GameCom 367 Closed-Ear Gaming Headset

Integrated speaker for 4 total 6 speaker unit

That is literally every component to my system, except for the HDD which I can't find the fucking link to right now...

Anyway, I was thinking that the part that needs upgrading the most is the monitor, since I bought it way back in 2010. Since I'm in South Korea, and I can ship things from here to my home base in Okinawa for free, I was thinking really hard about going out in town and looking for one of these in a local computer store instead of buying one from eBay:

Yamakasi Catleap HDMI 1.4a Q271 LED 2560x1440 WQHD S-IPS Monitor

The company is based here in South Korea, and is one of few that currently make a 27" 2560x1440 IPS monitor...they are renowned online for being some of the highest quality, yet cheapest monitors of that size/picture quality that you can find. I'm hoping to get one for roughly half the price of the one on eBay since I'll be buying it domestically and won't be paying for shipping.

Is this a good idea? Or can you guys find a more glaring hole that needs to be plugged in my system?

Keep in mind that I do three things on my computer: WoW, surf the net, and download torrents (which go to an external).

Anyway, thanks for any advice/feedback you guys have.

haven't read whole post, but u have SSD? If not get one. Wow shit will load crazy fast.

Yeah, my boot drive is SSD...Samsung 830 Series MZ.

Maybe buy a Korean to heal for u?

Holy sweet fuck just send Me the PC and buy a new one.....

Rich Kunts!

Nothing wrong with current monitor lot of money to pay for 4 inch's more unless you wanna have 2-3 of them and play on some funky res.You have a 2nd 23 Inch?

Anyway I would normally spend your $$ quick smart for you but in this case fuck unless you wanna crossfire and buy another card then you might be pushing current limits of your PSU....Idk

Maybe just send your missers the money and do a super set? <--Must watch pain and gain farking funny.

She gets all the damn money anyway, I live off $500/mo. This "bonus" is for me to maintain my uniforms, and since I just got all brand new ones in May, I don't really need to replace anything.

I thought about Crossfire, but you're right...I'd have to buy a better fully modular PSU and it would come close to pushing me over budget.

The 27" monitor may seem like its only 4 more inches, but it's actually about 38% more screen area, and the resolution is much higher (2560x1440 vs 1920x1080). I currently only have one monitor, but if I got a new one, I'd keep the 23" and use it for web surfing and shit while I am gaming.

And I watched Pain and Gain Sunday night, that shit is awesome.

Dual monitors is amazing

Do it

Like my girl Natalie Portman says, "I'll sit right down on your face, and take a shit!"

I think I am, I emailed some Korean dude from eBay last night and asked him if he had a location in Daegu (where he ships his products from), and if not if he could point me in the direction of a local place I could look at some monitors at.

1) You said SSD for your boot drive, where are games ? put them on SSD if you can
2) If they akready are on SSD, bigger monitor. I play on 27" and its really really nice.

WoW, Diablo, Bioshock: Infinite, and Tomb Raider are on SSD...it's 256gb, so plenty of space for that.

I'm set on the monitor now that I've gotten two others who made that suggestion. Thanks fellas!

i use dual screen as well, damn useful for multitasking :p

anyway, get another Radeon HD 7870 2GB GDDR5 and crossfire?

I'd have to get a new PSU too, as the one I have will only support one GPU :(

Found one for $285 with next day delivery!!

Yamakasi Catleap Q271 2560x1440p

I just need to ask one of these Koreans on base to help me order that shit so I don't do it improperly.
