Hey guys,

I had been contemplating for awhile of upgrading my PC due it being so old and shit and i have been at my wits end with it being slow and having FPS drops etc etc

During G2's raid i was benched and got talking to Necro about upgrading my PC, he gave me some great insight into a machine... I had mentioned the same thing to Deny and he told me to speak to a company called PLE Computers about building me a gaming machine.

So today i got on the phone and email with them and i purchased a gaming rig for $947.00 (my budget was only $900 but alittle over wasnt going to kill anything).

Since i dont know jack shit about computers im hoping what i have bought is fairly decent for the budget i had, I spoke with my IT department today and they told me this machine will KILL my old one out the water and will be perfect for MOP even in a 25 man setting (which is what i wanted to achieve out this exercise).

All i do is play wow, download movies and fraps my shit on wow, so i didnt want an awesome epic computer, i just wanted something decent that i could at least upgrade with in the future if i wanted to.

My computer specs are below VS the gaming rig thats being built which should be ready early next week.

So thats my new rig, I hope you guys who know what your doing with this sort of thing can comment on any information that would be useful to me as i dont know to much.

Someone told me today when i get it i should overclock it etc.... i have no idea wtf this means haha

Anyway thought i would share as with this beast im hoping to not only be ready to smash MOP but this computer shouldnt let me down in any raid setting which is what im most concerned about atm with my current outdated system.

NEW COMPUTER:

i5 3550 / i5 3570k for overclock
Get an aftermarket cooler if u overclockin
Board is nice
Memory is nice
hard disk is nice but get an ssd TRUE STORY like 120gb SSD
GPU.... is good but i recommend 7870
Case is good but go for the Antec 1100 (eleven hundred) if possible
powersupply go for a higher one like at least 700w, and i dont like xfx personally, go seasonic rofl

and my only tip, like pro tip, invest in your power supply and case!! you will replace everything else in like 3 years but not PSUs and Case, they last for 9000 lifetimes, true story.

just my opinion on the build alternate spec, NO HATIN GNOME LOVIN

I kinda get now that overclocking pushes your computer to perform more, with that machine i wouldnt really have to do that though would i ?
considering im only playing wow/raiding and frapsing vids, correct ?

Do i need a Cooler at all ? or is it only needed if you are overclocking your machine ?

Get more ram. Might cost you 10-20bucks!

Not sure on overclocking or coolers, I've got i7 black edition with a cooler and my systems unbelievable

But I went overkill

Would you need to overclock-Never do BUT in saying that if.......One owned a fully worked supercharged V8,washed said car every weekend filled it with premium fuel.Would you A drive at 100kh Or B find the longest most empty road and push 200kh?One could no doubt drive at 100kh every day all day but others would want to see what more if had.Human nuture i guess :D

Playing WoW on ultra no doubt doable with that rig.Mid 25 man full glory on a pally healer frapsing WoW and using mumble also looking at porn you will still notice fps problems.Huge problems on ultra ("I'M GUESSING") less to none on max/mixed custom.-Lose the fraps and should run a 25man smooth like a baby's backside.

As for a cooler will you need it no.Should you get one yes LOL -Why no added performance from it but adds to the longevity of CPU also allows you to overclock safely if you every wanted to in 3-5 years plus decent cheap one only cost $25-70 depending on what you want. ( Any and all good Pc guide sites will tell you 2 things get a good PSU and CPU cooler :D )

The analogy was awesome lol im into my cars n that made it pretty clear.. I don't want to run wow on max settings.

Hell I've been playing wow on the lowest possible settings since vanilla lol but as of late my pc Is struggling so this new rig im hoping i can still run low-med settings n run ok ?

Continuing with your car analogy

Does your car have a radiator?

Get a Cooling system for your CPU and more ram - you can still do it, will take them 2 minutes to put in.

I got paid a bonus of $500 from my work for being awesome, I will ring them first thing tomorrow and see if they can put in a cooling system aswel.

With the ram, do you recommend going for 16GB ? or upgrading to a better 8GB ?

I can upgrade the 8GB to a 2400MHz instead of the 1600MHz or i can go x2 8GB sticks of 2133MHz ?

Def 16gig , not sure on the speed

8GB Ram will be fine 16GB will furture proof for 5 years

Speed has to do with overclocking 1330 / 1600 / 1800 / 2400 Will not matter to WoW

Thanks josh n deny, I'll get onto the guys building it in the morning to make the change on the ram and to add in a cooler.

I'm so excited about this.. I went and brought myself a razor keyboard to go with my naga mouse... Shits gonna be pimp :)

Nice price but i hope ur not getting charged for office.. cos other wise u could have got a a better psu/gfx card or even an ssd

Yeh im glad they cut me a deal on it.. My dad actually knows the boss of the place (small world I tell ya lol) so they worked with my budget n just made it all for that price...

Its very hard buying something U don't really have a clue about lol you guys have helped me out quite abit so thanks to everyone,
I rang them this arvo n they said it should be finished tomorrow (fingers crossed) as they are very busy atm apparently, id love to get it on Tuesday so I can muck around with it and get it all setup to raid with on Wednesday.

Mines awesome, I have noticed two things that I need to fix

1) my blue USB ports (USB 3??) don't work at all - yes I've got some USB 3 stuff

2) the ssd goes REALLY slow sometimes when loading wow.. Very unusual , is rare but annoying

1) Drivers imo

2)Could be anything - reloading cache folders / windows working in the back ground / Bad SSD

drivers seem fine! tried uninstalling them and putting them back. i actually don't think the front sockets are even connected
