yeah no joke, even with a 1 up I can only stream @ 480

The NBN should be finished mid year (i so really hope so) in my area, which means I'll get speeds of 100 down 40 up - and i'll be streaming 1080p motherfuckers.

And Tyrall is amazing, a great guy. I've found that every druid I've met we've instantly gotten along. It must be a druid thing though.

Ponch is a new addition/ ive never really noticed him, seems like a decent player though i never hear him getting his ear chewed off.

And it's a new me baby!

I can already stream at 1080p :).. but the NBN prob wont help u.. there a very very good chance that upload speeds will be aS bad as they are now. specially if nothing is done to protest this.. there has been an out cry for years over the 2.3mbps that telstra has capped there home cable whne there is no reason other then the mega cash grab that they can charge for it..

also when there no local twitch server in Aus it dont really matter about ur upload then u gotta send it the the US neways

I went fishing today.

Did'nt catch anything but :(

that doesnt matter though - my isp has assured me of the 100 down 40 up in my area.

and the twitch server also wouldnt matter with a 40 up

Keep in mind all quoted speed estimates are only on local servers, not international. International requires going through hardware systems they have no control over, ergo they can't give you any kind of speed guarantee on it. So Haads' point about there being no local Twitch server so it won't change much stands.

there is the construction of the undersea fibre connecting Aus to other countries which im sure is part of the NBN and why we are getting fibre speeds. The speed should be a good indicator, maybe not 100% on 40 up, but damn near close.

NBN is NATIONAL Broadband Network. We already have a fibre cable under the ocean; doesn't change the fact it's a fucking ocean. :p

Yeah I know that, im just saying the NBN is connecting those of us who didn't before have the hardware to support fibre, to fibre.

you dont need to tell me what nbn means -.-

As far as I am aware, only telstra have committed to purchasing one of the fibre cores for the new SEA cable

at the end of the day.,. telstra is just greedy and while they control everything.. an even with the NBN controling the fibre network you wont get mega upload speeds with out paying the price. the current cable network can support speeds 3 times as fast but telstra limits it as to make extra money.. hell the new modems they have support 8 channels downstream which they use all off supporting the 100mbps downloads but with the upstream the modem supports 4 channels but they have limited that to just 1. WHY? cos they can. and will continue to until there is a big enough push from the consumer for it.

for me there when the NBN is finished there will be no reason for me to go to it unless the upload speeds are faster or the price is cheaper.

and another thing on uploads. aus has the lowest ratio download to upload in the world... almost every other developed country in the world has uploads speeds almost 3 times faster then ours.. available to every household.. not just ppl who wanna pay for it in most cases is just businesses.
