
Midnight Dev Interview - Full Housing Neighborhoods System Not Coming in 11.2.7
Gamespot talked to WoW senior game director Ion Hazzikostas, associate design director Maria Hamilton, and associate game director Paul Kubit. The covered Player Housing, Transmog, and more.
Player Housing
- The version of player housing arriving in The War Within's patch 11.2.7 is described as a "preview" that focuses on the house itself and its customization.
- The full neighborhood system, which includes features like neighborhood-wide challenges and events, won't be coming until Midnight's official launch.
- One of the primary reasons for the early release is to give players a head start on collecting decoration items from all over the game, including old dungeons and raids, so they don't feel pressured to do so during the launch of a new expansion.
- Players who do not preorder Midnight will still be able to collect housing decor items when patch 11.2.7 goes live.
Quel'Thalas & Story
- There is no more loading screen for Eversong Woods, Zul'Aman and Silvermoon.
- While Silvermoon will be the main hub for both the Horde and the Alliance, Alliance players will only have access to certain parts of the city.
- Silvermoon will be larger, with some new areas added, including the Sanctum of Light and a Memorial Garden.
- Some of the most iconic areas in Quel'thalas, like Windrunner Spire, Magisters' Terrace, and Murder Row will be dungeons
Player Experience & UI
- Popular add-on features like damage meters and boss timers are being integrated directly into the game's baseline UI.
- Midnight is going to be our first expansion that really puts approachability front and center in all aspects of its encounter and class design
Devourer Demon Hunters
- Devourer players wouldn't be sitting at max-range casting spells, but did say that in a lot of cases, the spec's rotation can be done at range.
- The core loop of the spec is for players to enter Void Metamorphosis and then try to stay in the form for as long as possible to maximize damage
- It won't play like a classic ranged class, you'll be moving in and out of melee range.
Prey System
- Normal Prey difficulty will be similar to existing open-world content.
- Hard and Nightmare Prey difficulty enemies may have Affixes and more mechanics.

The Honor and Conquest vendors have moved once again and are back on the battlefield.
They can now be found in the courtyard of the Gate of the Setting Sun, conveniently marked on your world map with an icon.
There is no glory to be had in the sanctuary of the Shrines!
Please note: Their original locations were never turned off, so if you’re speaking to them on the wall, you can expect strange results. This should become much less strange with patch 5.5.1, probably.
