Beta starts Thursday! We are recapping live and will clean up the notes to make them easier to read after the stream is over.
- Beta was going to start in November, but in the industry beta is a polish demo almost. The Legion alpha was nowhere near polished, so it was called an alpha.
- Legion isn't finished, but it is closer to being finished now, so the team is ready for beta.
- The current plan is to take the alpha down over the next day, send out a beta invite wave, then at 2 PM PST on Thursday wipe all of the existing characters and start beta!
- The Garrison was about raising an army and building a base. The Class Order Hall is a shared social space, where all players of your class can hang out.
- Most of the stuff you do in your Order Hall will send you out into the world. While leveling you will visit to upgrade your Artifact. There are also class campaign quests that will become available, as well as a much smaller version of the mission system from Garrisons. Missions are less frequent and have a greater impact, it won't be like Warlords.
- The mission system in Warlords competed with other content, giving you crafting things, gold, and other things, making it less effort to push the mission buttons and log out than it would be to go out into the world and do things.
- You will get Order Resources by doing things out in the world, spending it on useful things and then later spending excess resources on missions.
- The Order Hall isn't customization like Garrisons. Customization comes through Order Hall talents and the Artifact appearances. The locations used for Order Halls existed before you came along, the aren't yours to decorate.
- Each Order has a fixed one time story campaign with multiple chapters that unfolds while leveling. Everyone won't be hitting the same point at the same time.
- Death Knights are trying to raise a new set of Four Horsemen to help you fight the Legion.
- At max level, there is a World Quest system with a fixed state for everyone in your region so that you can quest together. They are almost like Garrison Missions for players, giving you a choice of things to go and do rather than a list of things for your followers to do. These aren't daily quests, some last for hours and some last for days.
- The most rewarding World Quests will be around for a few days, so players will have time to complete them.
- Every day when you log in, there will be an Emissary that gives you a choice of quests to do four from to earn a rep bonus and extra reward.
