WoW Down to 7.7 Million Subscribers
Activision Blizzard's press release states that World of Warcraft is down to 7.7 million subscribers. This is a loss of 600,000 subscribers, down from 8.3 million last quarter. A call about the shares purchase will take place on July 26 at 8:30 AM ET, so check back then for any more comments on subscriber numbers.

Activision Blizzard Purchases Shares From Vivendi
Activision Blizzard and investors are purchasing 429 million shares for $5.8 billion, leaving Bobby Kotick as CEO of the company. This purchase is financed with $1.2 billion of cash that was on hand and $4.6 billion of debt proceeds, leaving them with a $1.4 billion of net debt at the end of the deal in September 2013.

The investment group includes Bobby Kotick and Brian Kelly, who put up $100 million together, as well as Tencent. This group will own 24.9% of the company and Vivendi will retain ownership of 83 million shares (12%) of the company.

I don't understand this wow dying thing, now that this game has existed at this level, what could possibly replace it? If wow died what would happen?

It's been said everywhere, so I might as well say it here: The only thing that will ever kill WoW is Blizzard.

All the wow dying stuff is always gold. Even now after nearly a decade at its lowest point the next closest mmo is rift at like what 1-2mil and guildwars at what ever the fuck it's at. So after all this time at its lowest point yet wow is still sitting about 4 times the subs that of its closest competitors.

kinda what zedy said

7 million sub's still pays the bills.

Want 1 million more FIX PvP can't think of a player base who quits more and more often the PvP players.

Want 1-2 million more?Re due talents away from a 5 point tree and make a non asain Xpac.

And who would not buy shares in WoW...Above investors could not write the checks faster enough imo.

I might buy shares in Blizzard...seriously been thinking about it. And this make it more interesting, because now (I haven't looked) I bet they are relatively low compared to what they've been in the past 4-5 years.

Best way to fix pvp is to some how separate how spells act when hitting a player compared to a npc. Say spell Y does X damage but against a player does Z damage. From there balancing classes between pvp and pve would be much simpler and they would be able to make balance changes for one part of the game without affecting the other. The problem with doing that would be they would probably need to recode every spell.

Simple fix, have the next xpac's big thing apart from theme and other changes be recoding and balancing along with a fuckin numbers squish. Big numbers are cool and all but having 5k of main stats on gear and doing 1mil dps is jsut going to be silly

They were talking about a numbers squish for this expac, and I was looking forward to it.

yeah so was i

was pritty cool hitting 1k dps, hitting a 100k was pritty meh. and tanks passing 10k hp

I wanna see the squish because Anes' 90k hps and my 70k will seem a little closer together if they're 9k and 7k or 900 and 700.
